Une micro-expression, c’est quoi ?
Elle apparaît et disparaît de façon tellement rapide qu’elle en est presque invisible. Sauf si l’observateur regarde au bon moment, et surtout… s’il est capable d’identifier l’émotion qu’elle témoigne.
Pour cela, pas de mystère : il faut s’entraîner à travers des exercices afin de comprendre le mécanisme des muscles faciaux pour chacune de nos expressions.
La micro-expression se produit lorsque nous essayons de réprimer ce que nous ressentons. Nous gardons le contrôle de notre ressenti mais notre cerveau peut, à un moment ou à un autre, laisser fuiter l’émotion que nous ne souhaitons pas partager avec les autres. Bien sûr, cette fuite n’est pas automatique. Certains ne laissent rien apparaître.
Mais si cette dernière s’active et que nous arrivons à la repérer, elle peut nous en dire beaucoup sur l’émotion réelle d’une personne. De là à dire que nous pouvons repérer le mensonge grâce à elle, c’est une toute autre histoire…
Micro-expression / Mensonge = même combat ?
Pas exactement.
Une micro-expression révèle surtout un état émotionnel, mais pas forcément la tromperie. Suivant le contexte de la situation, elle va nous indiquer si notre interlocuteur essaye de dissimuler une émotion. Si nous repérons la micro-expression et que nous arrivons à la lire correctement, cela nous révèle la véritable émotion que l’autre souhaite nous cacher.
Prenons l’exemple suivant : un dossier n’a pas été envoyé à notre client. Nous demandons des explications à la secrétaire qui indique avoir envoyé ce dernier. Elle s’agace et dit éprouver de la colère face à notre scepticisme. Pourtant, nous observons une rapide micro-expression de peur à la fin de sa phrase. Mais attention aux conclusions hâtives : cela ne signifie pas obligatoirement que la secrétaire ment ! Elle peut parfaitement ressentir la peur de ne pas être crue et d’avoir des problèmes dans son environnement professionnel. Vous voyez où se situe la vigilance : une personne innocente peut aussi laisser échapper des micro-expressions contradictoires sans que cela soit forcément en lien avec un mensonge. Elles nous disent ce que les gens ressentent mais pas pourquoi ils éprouvent cette émotion.
Pour détecter la tromperie, il faut plusieurs indices verbaux et non verbaux. L’incongruence entre ce qui est dit et montré nous indique que quelque chose ne va pas, mais c’est à nous de savoir poser les questions afin de savoir quoi !
